By Ukpono Ukpong

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Coordinator in FCT, Ballama Birniwa, has called on corps members to use every opportunity they have to promote national unity and peaceful coexistence as the country’s unity cannot be compromised.

Addressing the corps members yesterday during a low key ceremony to mark the passing out of the 2018 batch ‘A’ corps members in Abuja, Ballama expressed satisfaction at the level of discipline and dedication displayed by the corps members in the discharge of their duties during the service year.

He congratulated them for honouring the clarion call even as they endeared themselves to their employers, host communities and the entire people of FCT.

According to him, a total of 5, 063 corps members completed their national assignment, eight erring corps members were given extension of service year depending on the level of their offense while one corps member is to be remobilized.

“Your passing out ceremony shouldn’t mean an end to your service to the nation, but rather the beginning of a new chapter of positive contributions to Nigeria.

“As you pull off your kits, you are expected to hit the ground running and put the training gained through the SADD programme in camp and post camp which was aimed at enhancing your entrepreneurial drive into use.

“I most sincerely wish you well in your future endeavors. Be good ambassadors of the scheme,” he said

Meanwhile, Birniwa has consoled the families of two dead corps members, Joyce Kongude and Glory Ohiorhenuan, who lost their lives during the period.
