Elephants rattle community in Kebbi

There was panic and anxiety in some Kebbi communities when three elephants entered a village called Zaria Kala Kala within Bagudo and Kaoje local government area of Kebbi state.

According to the Commissioner, Ministry of Environment, Alhaji Hassan Umar Kalgo, the huge creatures are suspected to have come from Benin Republic because Kebbi shares border with the country through Kaoje and Illo, therefore might have been on their seasonal migration, and broke away from their group and entered Kebbi.

The commissioner stated that as they got the news of their appearance in the state, they collaborated with the affected local governments and traditional rulers to warn people not to provoke them, describing the elehpants as peaceful animals unless provoked.

He said the state governor, Senator Atiku Bagudu visited the twin towns of Kanten Tudu and Kante Rafi were the animals spent two days.
