Kaduna state governor-elect, Malam Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai has condemned the killings of people in Birnin Gwari local government area of the state.
El-Rufai however called for urgent action by the security forces to end any act of terrorism in the area.
It would be recalled that a gang of thieves on Wednesday morning killed 20 people and set houses ablaze in Gworon Dutse village in Birnin Gwari local government area of the state.
The thieves, according to reports were said to have stormed the village in the early hours of the day.
Some people also said, the armed thieves were in the village on a revenge mission, following killing of their two colleagues previously.
In a statement by his spokesperson, Samuel Aruwan, he said, “The governor-elect received with sadness news of the killing of about 20 persons and the destruction of homes in a village located in Birnin Gwari local government area of Kaduna State.
“It is barbaric and inhuman. It is unfortunate that innocent Nigerians will be brutally killed in their sleep.
“The governor-elect therefore condoles the affected families and the entire community over this unfortunate act. He prays for the repose of the souls of the deceased.
“He also charged security agencies to redouble their efforts in ensuring maximum security in the state.”
