The Special Adviser to the Governor of Anambra State and a House of Representatives aspirant for Anambra East and West federal constituency come 2019, Chief Chinedu Obidigwe, has stated that education is the key to any meaningful development of every society.
Hon. Obidigwe made the call at the weekend in Awka, the Anambra State capital, when he received the first set of his scholarship recipient from various universities in Nigeria.
Recall that during the governorship campaign of Chief Willie Obiano in November, 2017 that Obidigwe had promised his ward/Enugu otu and Nkpunando community extraction of Aguileri that he will pay the school fees of anybody from the agrarian area as mentioned above who happens to gain admission into any university in Nigeria this year.
This he said by recounting how the area had suffered in the past including himself years back when he got admission into Ebonyi state university without a sponsor which made him to defile the admission for the next academic level to enable him provide the required funds through his then rice farming .
His words: “I used myself as an example because i encountered the hard situation and i still believe that so many person(s) are still facing the same challenge today hence my resolve to assist the people of my agrarian community in their educational pursuits”.
Obidigwe however emphasised the need to be focused and committed in whatever thing one has chosen to do in life and enjoined the fresh undergraduates to always pay attention to their course of study and never to allow unimportant things to dominate their academic activities.
He further maintained that his interest is the greater happiness of the greater majority and assured that by the special grace of God that when he gets to the green chamber of the National Assembly come 2019 that he shall do more especially in the area of education, youth empowerment, child mortality and health care development of his constituency (Anambra east and west).
In their respective appreciation message, the recipients of this uncommon gesture expressed their gratitude to Hon. Obidigwe for his magnanimity and benevolence to mankind and described him as a rare quality in the field of politics. They all promised to make good use of the opportunity availed to them and equally thanked Engr. Julius Chukwuemeka (special assistant to the governor on works) who arranged their credentials for the process.
It is said that some politician doesn’t keep their promise but in Obidigwe i found the quality of sincerity and honesty in action.
“Let’s join hands in building a better society where the youth shall be the major decision makers in both National Assembly and at the state level, all thanks to Governor Wilie Obiano for his believe in what the youths can do”.
