Edo 2016: NASS, APC caucus presents nomination form to Obaseki

The governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, on Wednesday, received the party’s nomination and expression of interest form purchased for him by the state APC caucus at the National Assembly and market women, appealing to his co-aspirants to see the contest as a brotherly one and not war.

Presenting the form to Obaseki before a crowd at his campaign office, the leader of the Edo State APC caucus in the National Assembly, Senator Francis Alimekhena, said that they decided to purchase the form for Obaseki because “we believe he is the right one who will fit into the shoes of Governor Adams Oshiomhole”.

According to him, “ On behalf of APC caucus at the National Assembly, market women, youths, we believe in Obaseki, because he has the capacity to manage the resources. He is the only person that can take over from Oshiomhole. That is why we all resolved that he is the one that has the wherewithal to lead us. I am presenting the form to him so that he will match to Osadebey Avenue. Obaseki is the one we have chosen to represent APC come September 10 governrship election”.

Obaseki said: “I thank our members at the National Assembly and everybody who has contributed in purchasing this form for me to contest the gubernatorial election in Edo State. I thank former chairmen, market women and the Obaseki family for their contribution. I want to assure you that I will not disappoint you.

“I want to assure you that I will continue the good work Oshiomhole has started, by the time we finish in eight years’ time, Edo State will not be the same again. I have accepted the form and I want to assure you that by the grace of God I will be your candidate come June 18. I want to appeal to my co- aspirants in this race that we are in a contest, we are all trying to serve Edo State.

“It is a contest not a war. I want to appeal to all of them that we all must go into this contest peacefully because at the end of the day we are still in one party, the ruling party and once they present me I will serve the interest of everybody”, he stated.
