Edmark International warn Nigerians on dangers of obesity

As part of rising campaign against obesity, particularly amongst Nigerians, a multinational health wellness firm, Edmark International, during the week held an exhibition-talk show in Lagos, the commercial capital of Nigeria.

The event which took place at Etal Hotel, Oregun, Ikeja was attended by Nigerians from all walks of life.

Speaking at the event, the Double Crown Manager, EDMARK Nigeria, Engr. Emeka Raymond Onanewu said the event was organised because the company is concerned at the rate at which Nigerians are dying through many diseases associated with overweight and obesity.

In an interview with The Daily Times, Onanewu said; “We converge every three months to let the people know how to maintain a healthy wealth, the danger associated with overweight and to suppress what is called obesity also.

“So, we are here today to celebrate achievers; we are here to sensitize the people against modern day challenges; we are saying enough to obesity and we are here to let people know about the danger of overweight and fatness in human health.

“As a company, we took it as a responsibility to let people know why they should live healthy, the food they should eat, and what they should not eat and we have drugs produced by our firm in Malaysia according to international best practice that can help one to burn fat and help one come back to the normal healthy weight,” he said.

Onanewu further explained that once there is excess weight in the body, “The individual is at risk of contacting diseases that are deadly, when u are overweight, viruses and pandemic diseases grow faster in the body system than when one is not over weight.

“Today, we have our customers, those who patronizes us and our marketers to share their testimony about our products; how EDMARK products have helped them battled obesity to the fullest.” He stressed.

On the suitability of their products, Onanewu responded thus: “Our products are very healthy and hygienic to the people. We are not marketing for any firm, we produce our products ourselves.

The processing plant that mixes EDMARK liquid drugs and juice in Malaysia is the biggest and largest in the world. It was built with over ten million dollars.

“Our plant is certified by world health organization in Malaysia and our produc here in Nigeria are certified by National Agency for Food, Drugs, Administration and Control (NAFDAC) Our products are hygienic to the healthy and the sick”.

The weight expert also used the occasion to call on Nigerian government to create an enabling environment for businesses to grow by reducing taxes and duty on imported products into the country.

“We call on Nigerian government to help private investors in Nigeria for the sake of young Nigerians. They should help us to reduce taxes.

This is a platform that can help the common man to live a healthy live. They should help us to reduce custom duty. Running and maintaining businesses in Nigeria at the moment are not easy.” he emphasized.

Another speaker at the event, Mr. Canice Anozie said obesity is a pandemic disease that has broken many people homes and made many people lost jobs. Anozie who is a height wellness by profession urged parents to look after how their kids eat to avoid future challenges for their health.

The firm, as part of its corporate social responsibility, conducted BMI test for twenty participants at the event free of charge and gave out both tablet and liquid drugs to those who are overweight to help them burn fat.
