Eagles need foreign coach—Sodje

Former Nigeria international Sam Sodje has revealed that the country will need the services of a top foreign coach to return the Super Eagles to the top.
“I won’t really want to say foreign coach is what the Eagles need, but I think the rate at which the team is declining, a foreign coach might be what we should consider at this point, no disrespect to our home-grown coaches but not just a foreign coach that is needed just because he’s got a different skin colour, but a proven and good one, someone who has the credentials to speak for him,” said Sodje.
“If NFF are not ready for such coach, there is no need to get a foreign coach.”
Sodje, who is holding talks with English teams like Manchester City, Derby County, Sheffield Wednesday and Liverpool for partnership with the Delta Elite U-16 League, said Nigeria coaches have not shown they are good enough to handle the Eagles.
Meanwhile, the Nigeria Football Federation has released the fixtures and venues for the Round of 64 matches of this year’s men Federation Cup competition, as well as the first round matches of the women competition.
While venues in Oleh, Owerri, Oshogbo, Lokoja and Benin will host the women’s matches, the 32 matches in the men’s competition will be spread round the Federal Capital Territory, Kaduna, Makurdi, Lokoja, Owerri, Umuahia, Enugu, Bauchi, Zaria, Ijebu-Ode, Jos, Oleh, Benin and Lagos.
All matches will take place between May 25 and 26, with the exception of the clash between Sure Babes of Ilorin and Gift of Life Queens of Umuahia that will come up on Friday, May 27.
