The Duchess of Cornwall, Camilla on Tuesday, urged Nigerian women to continue to be supportive of each other in their pursuit of social and political independence.
The Duchess who is in Nigeria for the first time with her husband, Prince of Wales, expressed satisfaction at the symbol of success and experiences the Nigerian women represented, encouraged them to forge ahead in pursuit of excellence.
The Duchess stated these in an interactive session with a group of women under the banner of Women of the world foundation, in Abuja.
Duchess Camille known for her passion for women rights, emphasized the importance of women embracing togetherness, irrespective of religious and social status, describing it as an important tool towards achieving desired success.
“I am fascinated listening all your stories and achievements, it is good that beyond age, race and religious barriers you can discuss things that affect you commonly.
“Nigeria is the best place to start talking about issues surrounding women like this,” she disclosed.
Celebrating women’s achievements, the founder of women of the world foundation, Jude Kelly emphasized the pertinence of women sharing experiences and learning from each other.
She revealed that the women’s group was founded to celebrate the achievements of women globally, and have recorded successes in mentoring and providing a safe space for women issues to be discussed effectively.
