The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has advised consumers against purchasing expiring products.
The Jigawa NAFDAC Coordinator, Mr Olaniran Olakunle, gave advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Dutse on Monday.
Olakunle said the agency in the state had confiscated a lot of expired powdered peak milk in circulation in the market in Dutse.
According to him, some traders are taking advantage of high demand of such products during this season and flood the market with expired ones to exploit people.
He said that some of the items, especially peak milk seized, had already expired while some had few days to expiration.
The coordinator said such products must have been bought by dubious traders at cheaper prices which they would further sell at normal prices to innocent consumers.
Olakunle disclosed that recently his men also seized some expired agro allied products in Kazaure local government area of the state.
He enjoined consumers to check for expiry date of any product they might purchase to avoid buying expiring products which were dangerous to their health when consumed.
