Hundreds of defectors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Delta State chapter who left for other parties have been given three months ultimatum to return or face strident punishment.
Barrister Kingsley Esiso, state chairman of the party gave the warning while speaking with journalists in Asaba, the state capital.
Reacting to issues bothering on the party’s alleged imposition of candidates which has resulted into the party members and leaders leaving the party in droves, the chairman said: “Any party member who nurses the intent of leaving the party should return, and those who have left should also do so or will face strident sanctions later”, insisting that there was no green pasture in other political parties except the PDP.
Esiso maintained that the allegations against the party’s congresses of massive imposition were not only untrue but being spread by disgruntled and faceless group of persons not known by the party executive.
His words: “I am not sure the rumuor managers know PDP or are members of the party, it is not true what they are saying about the party, the party is very organised and all the congresses were free and fair”.
While expressing support for the zoning formula of the PDP, Barrister Esiso said Delta North representative, and the governor of the state, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa will be governor till 2023, adding that zoning will bring peace in any party.
Eulogizing the efforts of Governor Okowa-led administration, Barrister Esiso disclosed that the governor had unveiled infrastructural development that will put the state first among equals, adding that his achievements within a year in office cannot be over emphasised.
