The FCT Minister of State, Dr. Ramatu Aliyu, has disclosed that the FCT Administration is set to commence door-to-door delivery of palliative in the six area councils of the FCT.
Speaking during the FCT Abuja COVID-19 media briefing, Dr. Aliyu disclosed that at least 600,000 households will benefit from the first batch of the palliative aimed at ameliorating the pains caused by the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.
In order to ensure that this palliative gets to the poorest of the poor in the society, she disclosed that a 9-man committee has been set- up to oversee the distribution of the relief materials which she promised would be void of party, religious or ethnic bias.
Speaking further, she disclosed that each area council would pick the items meant for their people at the main point facility of the FCT, for onward distribution.
She also directed that the area council chairmen should also set up a 9-man committee in all the wards to be headed by councillors which will receive the items and thereafter transmit same to another 9-man committee which would also be set up in every unit that will ensure door-to-door distribution of the items to residents.
“In the unit level you’ll have this nine people who will identify and mark all the houses that have been served the items,” she stated.
To avoid crowding, the minister noted that having identified each household, only the household leader would be invited to come and receive what is due to the family while the other members of the house remain indoors.
She appealed to households who have more than one family to exercise patience if all the items does not go round at once as only the family which benefits from the palliative would be marked while others would be captured when the team returns to the area.
While noting that all the items are fully packed and sealed, the minister advised that should the package be broken or any resident who is due to collect but feels short-changed should call on the following numbers, 07042128340 (WhatsApp), 08099936312, 08099936313, even as she disclosed that a team has been put in place to ensure immediate response.
“Should you experience a broken pack, certainly, you should raise an alarm. After searching your conscience, should you feel that you are eligible for whatever parameter, the people distributing it in your area omits you call on this numbers, 07042128340 (WhatsApp), 08099936312, 08099936313, and the FCT management would come to your rescue,” the minister added.
