Chelsea have made Raphael Varane’s capture a priority this summer, according to reports.
The Blues are said to have lined up a £39.4 Million bid for the Frenchman’s signature this summer, and are likely to face competition from Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United.
The French giant’s manager Laurent Blanc admitted that Varane was the ideal defender he would like to sign, while the Red Devils are heavily speculated to be eyeing up a new-look defence for next term.
Chelsea are believed to be eyeing up a long-term replacement for John Terry, who turned 34 in December, although he looks set to land a one-year extension, keeping him tied to the Stamford Bridge club until the end of next season.
Varane was signed by Real Madrid by Jose Mourinho, who has since returned to the West-London club, and the chance to play under the Portuguese tactician once again could prove too tempting to turn down.
