Speaker of Osun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Najeem Salaam, has told politicians to learn from the emergence of Muhammadu Buhari as the president-elect of Nigeria.
According to him, the election results have taught politicians a lesson that their voice should be heard at all odds.
“With the outcome of the just concluded general elections, a clear message has been sent to the politicians and political actors,” the speaker added in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Goke Butika.
The speaker, who congratulated President Elect and the Vice President Elect, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo respectively on their deserved victory said the feat has challenged them to deliver on the enormous challenges facing the nation.
He said, “While I congratulate our President elect and his Vice, I must say that our party, All Progressives Congress (APC) must realize that there is a job to be done, for expect ions are very high in all sprees of influence.
“For the first time in the chequered history of Nigeria, the people asserted their power and freely expressed their desire to have a radical departure from the past.”
He noted that both President Goodluck Jonathan and Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) deserved to be commended for the efforts in promoting democracy.
