Mathew Dadiya, Abuja

President Muhammadu Buhari has inaugurated the Presidential Implementation Committee on autonomy for the legislative and judicial arms of government at the state level in line with the fourth alteration on the 1999 Constitution.

Buhari, while inaugurating the committee on Friday at the council chamber of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, charged members to be diligent in discharging their duties.

The President said that he believes autonomy of the state legislature and judiciary was a necessary pre-condition for Nigeria’s democracy to endure.

The 16-member committee is headed by the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, while the presidential National Assembly liaison officer, Sen. Ita Enang, is to serve as secretary.

The implementation committee has three months from the day of inauguration to complete its assignment.
