British Airways plane was not hit by a drone – Government

An object that reportedly collided with a British Airways flight as it arrived Heathrow Airport last week was no longer believed to be a drone, the Government said on Thursday.

Transport Secretary, Patrick McLoughlin, told parliament that there was not a drone incident on April 17, conflicting initial reports by the pilot and police.

Officials involved in the investigation said that it remained unclear what hit the plane, and investigations had been closed.

According to the Press Association agency, Transport Minister, Robert Goodwill had already said that there was no real damage to the plane, that the object may have been a plastic bag.

Engineers had found no damage on the Airbus A320, which was carrying 132 passengers and five crew members, and following an inspection, the plane was cleared for its next flight. (dpa/NAN)
