Austria hosts Adire carnival June 29

The much-awaited Festival of Music, Art and Culture (FESTMAC 2015), will hold in Vienna, Austria, from June 29 to July 4, 2015. This would be the second time the international cultural jamboree would be taking place in the historic city of Vienna.
The first version, tagged Adire Carnival, held in June, 2013 and was a success. It was attended by international dignitaries, including Governor of the state of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola; Ogun State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Mrs. Yewande Amusan; Hon. Femi Ojodu of the Ogun State House of Assembly; Chief Shina Williams, Special Adviser to Ogun State Governor on Culture and Tourism. Others were a royal father, Oba Isiaka Ajede, Ogirimadagbo of Ilodo kingdom. From the Nollywood, were the like of Obi Emelonye of the Last Flight to Abuja fame; Odunlade Adekola, Mr. Latin and others, with Fuji maestro, Sefiu Alao (a.k.a. Omo Oko), on the bandstand.
This year’s edition was endorsed by Nigeria’s Ambassador to Austria, Abel Ayoko. The event would also be jointly sponsored by the Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation, (NIDOE), Europe-Austria Chapter, National Association of Nigerian Community Austria (NANCA) and the Embassy of Nigeria, Austria. The festival kicks off on June 29, 2015, with a film show at the Afro-Asia Institute, Vienna, with the award winning film from Ebun Oloyede (Olaiya Igwe), entitled Mystery of Unity, a film on peaceful co-existence between Christians and Muslims in Nigeria.
From June 30 to July 3, the Afro-Asian Institute would also host different Nigerian cultural dances and music from different states of Nigeria. The grand finale would be on July 4, with the Nigerian Carnival 2015, tagged Carnival of Peace. The carnival train would take off from the Nigerian Embassy in Vienna (Rennweg 25) and terminate at the Hofburg, the seat of the Federal Government of Austria. The train is expected to shut many major roads in the city, including the popular Ring Road (Ring Strasse) in the city centre.
This year’s event also coincides with the centenary birthday of the late Adunni Olorisa (Susanna Wenger), the Austriaborn Osun princess. Engr. Oluyemi Ogundele, chairman of NIDOE, Austria chapter said “Just like last year, we are expecting VIPs like Gov. Rauf Aregbesola, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Dr. (Mrs.) Sally Mbanefo (DG NTDC) amongst others. We are also expecting Nollywood stars like Ebun Oloyede, Mr. Latin, Bimbo Oshin, Regina Chukwu, Ojopagogo, Opebe, Lanko Omo Oba Dubai and many others.
