The Commander, Nigerian Army School of Supply and Transport, Brigadier-General Bolaji Salami, has lauded the support extended to the school by the Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, despite the ownership of the institution by the Federal Government.
Salami, who paid a courtesy visit to the governor on Monday in Government House, Benin City, said:We thank you for the assistance you have given to the school over time and hope you will continue to support the school. In addition to the support for the school, we also want you to support the Nigerian Army the way you have been supporting all other security agencies.
Brigadier-General Salami explained that the Nigerian Army School of Supply and Transport supports the 4 Mechanised Brigade of the Nigerian Army with manpower for the security of the state; provides medical services for people in Ehor Community and supports the Edo State Fire Service in the discharge of its duties.
He assured of the school’s readiness to support the Obaseki-led administration to ensure the state is secure for growth and development, assuring that the school is ready to train officers of the state Fire Service department as well as drivers in the employment of the government.
In his response, Governor Obaseki said his administration was doing everything possible to make life more comfortable for the personnel in Army formations and other security officials in the state.
He explained that he was not pleased with what the government saw at some of these military formations when he visited them.
We don’t see anything wrong in building facilities and supporting the Army to make life more comfortable for their officials,” the governor said.
Obaseki further said his administration would collaborate with the Nigerian Army School of Supply and Transport (NASST) to develop the capacity of staffs of the Edo State Fire Service and drivers, considering its location in the state.
He commended the Military for ensuring the security of lives and property in the state and for impacting positively on its host communities.
