A self-styled, 45- year- old, Dokio Olotu, who masquerades as military officer to terrorise the people of Agadagba community in Ese Odo Local Government Area, was last weekend apprehended by the men of the 32 Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army in Akure, the Ondo state.
Parading the suspects before newsmen, the Director, Army Public Relations of the Artillery Brigade, Captain Ojo Ifedayo Adelegan, explained that the Fast Track Squad of the military joint effort nabbed the fake soldier after an established surveillance and tip-off from the people community.
Adelegan revealed that the fake officer had been posing as a military officer by using force to extort money from the people, stressing that nemesis caught up with the suspect after years of parading himself as a major in the Nigeria Army in the relatively sleepy community.
He disclosed further that the suspect had been rolling in money from his criminal escapades after extorting the people of the community before he was caught and arrested by the security agencies on routine patrol.
“The fake officer was arrested in Agadagba community. He has been extorting money from the people of the area through the show of force while claiming to be a solider. He was, however, caught after established civil military relations.
“The civilian in the community were pissed off of the unwholesome act of the fake soldier after he had been terrorising them for a very long time, and immediately informed our men under the Fast Trask Squad who were on normal routine on the street of the community.
“Our men swung into action and visited the area, this led to his arrest upon discovering that he was a fake soldier, and we would hand him over to the police for further investigation”, Ojo said.
