The Niger State Command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), on Wednesday, arrested four fuel ladened trucks in Minna for diverting.
The State Commandant Mr. Philip Ayuba, who spoke to our correspondent, said his men apprehended the drivers who were driving out of Minna to divert petroleum products meant for stations in Minna.
Ayuba said after we got directives from the Minister of State for Petroleum, Ibe Kachukwu to ensure at least one of our men follow every tanker until the products are offloaded, we sprung into action and we arrested the tankers at about 1:30 am.
“Along with the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR), we are enforcing the reversal of the increased price to the government’s regulated price” Ayuba said.
The tankers, alongside one branded NNPC truck, were eventually compelled to offload the products at the Southgate, Garima, Conoil at Chanchaga and NNPC mega filling stations.
Ayuba further urged other security agencies in the state to join hands with the NSCDC and shun every form of sabotage so as to lessen the sufferings of the people.
One of the tanker drivers, Maikori Iliya told Daily Times that the reason why he did not offload and decided to leave Minna was because he did not have the way bill.
