The Archbishop of Canterbury, United kindom, Justin Welby, has said that the rapid recovery President Muhammadu Buhari has made from his health challenges “is a testimony to the healing powers of God.
Welby stated this on Friday when he paid a personal visit to Buhari at the Abuja House, London.
Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina, also stated in a statement made available on Friday, said that the “Archbishop and President Buhari are friends, who share deep respect for each other.”
According to Adesina, Archbishop Welby was delighted to see the rapid recovery Buhari has made from his health challenges, saying that it was a testimony to the healing powers of God, and answer to prayers of millions of people around the world.
The cleric also pledged to continue praying for both Buhari and Nigeria.
In his response, Buhari thanked Archbishop Welby, whom he noted had always stood by him at critical times, and wished him God’s continued grace in his spiritual duty of leading the Anglican Communion worldwide.
The Daily Times recalls that when former British Prime Minister, David Cameron described Nigeria as a “fantastically corrupt” country ahead of an anti-corruption summit in London in 2016, Archbishop Welby had retorted that : “But this particular President (Buhari) is actually not corrupt.”
The Archbishop later personally received Buhari at Lambeth Palace, London, and had also paid a goodwill visit to Buhari in March this year, during his medical vacation.
