The All Progressives Congress (APC) has condemned the N25, 000 reparation levy allegedly imposed on the protesting students of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, (AAUA), as a condition for readmitting them into the university.
The party’s Director of Publicity, Steve Otaloro, on Sunday, alleged that the imposition of the levy on the AAUA students was to divert attention of the public from government negligence to provide adequate healthcare facilities at the university and Akungba communities.
Otaloro said that the levy was uncalled for at a time when government was owing most of the parents of the protesting students five months salaries.
“Where does the government expect them to get such money from at this tough time in the state, when workers are moaning and groaning in poverty”, he queried.
“We condemned this outrageous levy and see it as a clandestine move by the Governor Olusegun Mimiko-led administration to generate funds to make up for his misappropriation of the state resources.”
