Ajimobi’s 40th day Fidau prayer, Ganduje, wife attend

The 40th day Fidau prayer according to Islamic rites of late Abiola Ajimobi, a former governor of Oyo state, the occassion was graced by Family and friends.

The event, which took place in Ibadan, the state capital, on Thursday had in attendance dignitaries such as Abdullahi Ganduje, governor of Kano, and Hafsat, his wife.

Ganduje is an in-law to the late Ajimobi, with Fatima, his daughter, married to Idris, son of the former governor.

Ajijola ‘Ajay’ Ajimobi, daughter to the former governor, took to her Instagram stories to share photos and video clips from the event.

Ajijola also accompanied one of the photos with a terse post where she noted she was missing her father’s tenderness.

In the portrait, she could be seen embracing her father with the latter kissing her on the cheek.

“I love you and l miss your kisses,” she wrote.

Florence, Ajimobi’s wife, also took to her social media page to narrate how his death had made her understand the true meaning of heartbreak.

“It has been 40 days of sleeplessness, pain and at the same time joy for a life well-lived.

Sleeplessness when I lie down on our bed and I see that empty space where you would always lie beside me,” she wrote.

“Every day without you has been so tough. I never knew the true meaning of heartbreak.

I never knew such extreme emotional pain. I never knew my heart could hurt this much.”

Ajimobi breathed his last on June 25, after suffering complications from COVID-19, the respiratory disease caused by coronavirus. He was aged 70.

Daily Times gathered, he passed away at the First Cardiology Consultants Hospital, Ikoyi in Lagos, where he was receiving treatment for the virus.

The late governor tied the knot with Florence in 1980. The union has been blessed with five children — four girls and a boy.

A former senator, Ajimobi goes into history as the only person who has served two terms as Oyo governor. He governed the state between 2011 and 2019.
