Adamawa Lawmakers Drag Gov to EFCC over N180m Bullet Proof Cars

The last has not been heard from the factionalised Adamawa State House of Assembly, as the faction led by Ahmadu Fintiri,on Wednesday, passed a resolution calling on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)to probe alleged procurement of 50 Toyota Hi-lux vans and two bullet proofjeeps at a cost of N580 million by the administration of Governor Bala James Ngillari.

The lawmakers alsocalled on the stategovernment to re-instate the Director-General of the StatePublic Procurement Bureau, Mallam Bello Umar, who was sacked by thestate government for querying the purchase and not following the dueprocess.

Also, the House, at its plenary, presided over by the Speaker, AlhajiAhmaduFintiri, recommended the conferment of a national award on Umar,for doing his job in querying the purchase and otherexecutive excesses that cost him his job.

The House resolutions came under Matter of Urgent Public Importanceraised by the Deputy Speaker, Mr.KwamotiLaori, who told theHouse that the state government had sacked Umar for his position on the purchase of the vehicles.
