A People Democratic Party (PDP) stalwart in Abia State, Dr. Uchechukwu Sampson Ogar, has called on Nigerians to accept the general election results in good faith and not to resort to violence.
Ogar, who is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Masters Energy group of companies stressed that politics is not a do-or-die affair, but should been seen as sports where a contender who loses should congratulate the winner.
Fielding questions from newsmen in his country home as Onuaku in Isuikwuato Local Government Area of Abia State, he said: “I take politics as sports. For instance, if you go in for wrestling and someone throws you down, you have to go home and prepare to come back for a better performance. Then you will be able to face the person squarely”.
Asked about his defeat in the last PDP gubernatorial primaries, Ogar said: “I am not embittered that I lost in that contest, I am at home with my party.”
He dismissed the idea of an independent candidate in any future election, stressing that one must have a platform and a structure on which to run.
