25m Nigerians living with disability, says Buhari’s aide

Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Disability Matters, Dr. Samuel Ankeli has disclosed that more than 25 million Nigerians are living with disability in the country.


Dr. Ankeli made the disclosure in Jos during a courtesy visit to governor Simon Lalong in Rayfied Government House in  Jos.


He pointed out that they were in the state for an advocacy visit to government, traditional rulers and tertiary institutions for them to support the quick passage of disability bill in the national assembly.


The Senior special assistant further challenged State governments, MDAs Local government councils and the organised private sector to always involve people with disability in decision making and planning.


Dr. Ankeli  further added that President Mohammed Buhari is seriously committed to the welfare of people with disability stressing that the President belief in peace and negotiation to ensure a violence free society so as not to increase disability.


Governor Lalong who was represented by the secretary to the government of the state Hon. Rufus Bature in his remark said as a responsible government it is their duty to take care of people with disability adding that Plateau state is the first state in the federation to passed the child right act.
