A 45-year-old mechanic, Olise Oghali, on Friday appeared in a Tinubu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly stealing his customer’s car engine worth N130,000.
The police charged Oghali with two counts of conspiracy and theft.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecution counsel, ASP Ben Ekundayo, told the court that defendant committed the offence on Nov. 12, 2019 at Eleko Town, Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos
Ekundayo alleged that the defendant, stole the engine of a Toyota Carina ‘E’ with registration No. EH 387 ABJ brought for repairs by Mr Godwin Mesel, a customer.
He said that Mesel paid the defendant N20,000 for his workmanship.
The prosecutor said that the offense contravened the provisions of sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Magistrates A.M. Olumide-Fusika admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case until March 26 for further hearing.
