The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has assured all passengers making use of airports across the country of seamless travel during and after the Sallah celebrations as security measures have been put in place.
The General Manager Public Affairs Mrs. Henrietta Yakubu disclosed this in an interview in her office on the preparation for the Sallah celebrations.
According to Mrs. Yakubu, the VIP lounges have been given a face lift with improvements on the ambience while the cooling systems have also been improved upon,
“We have also improved on the lighting systems as most of the lights have been replaced with LED lightings, the cooling system has also been upgraded,” she disclosed, adding that new security measures have been adopted to ensure there was no breach of security during and after the celebrations.
She warned people who have no business at the airports to steer clear as anybody caught will be treated as a tout, adding that only workers, passengers and those with business will be allowed into the airports.
She said all aviation security personnel have been briefed on the new security measures while broken down screening machine have been repaired and put into use, just as backups have also been provided.
The FAAN spokesperson further stated that a joint military taskforce is working round the clock to provide security at the airports, stressing that the agency has tried its possible best to rid the airports of touts.
She advised travelers intending to use the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos, to leave home on time as a result of the ongoing work along the Airport Road by the Lagos state government in order to conclude boarding formalities before their flights.
Yakubu urged passengers to contact airline booking counters at the airports to make their ticket purchase in order to avoid being swindled.
