A group of youths from Michika/Madagali Federal constituency in Adamawa State, believed to belong to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has threatened to invade the state office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) if it fails to announce the results of Pallam/Kojotiward in its favour, within 48 hours.
In a statement signed by Francis Zaman, the PDPagent forPallam/Kojoti ward, the group vowed that “If nothing is doneabout the results in the next two days, the Resident Electoral Commissioner should prepare to hostus in his office until our demands are met”.
The group noted that it was compelled to issue the threat because, almost one week after the election was held, the results were yet to bereleased, despite the fact that the election was peaceful.
It noted that there was no justification for INEC to refuse to announcethe overall result as the results of 25 out of the 26 wards in theconstituency, have been duly collated and announced with the exceptionof that of Pallam/Kojiti ward, which, the youths alleged, was snatchedby the APC candidate, Umaru Duhu and others.
In his reaction, APC candidate,Dr. UmaruDuhu, dismissed the allegations, adding that they were false, baseless and could not stand the testof scrutiny.
He added that the group was sponsored by his opponent AdamuKamale, inorder to deceive Adamawa citizens.
