Two suspected kidnappers of the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Hit 95.9 FM radio, Cross River Mr. Patrick Ugbe, have been arrested by the State Police Command in Calabar.
Mr. Ugbe who was the Chief Press Secretary to Senator Liyel Imoke when he was the Governor of the State and Commissioner for Information and Orientation as well as Youth and Sports Development Commissioner under the Imoke’s administration was kidnapped at the burial of his wife’s younger brother (Fidelis) at Ikot Ansa, in Calabar Municipality on January 1st, 2017.
He was released 2 days after (January 3, 2017), specifically after pressure was mounted by the general public that said, the entrepreneur has impacted a lot to Cross Riverians and deserved his freedom. Many had held prayer sessions for his release which later paid off.
Consequently, there was no information whether any ransom was demanded or paid but an eyewitness alleged that the man was dragged by four able gunmen into a vehicle and zoomed off.
But, the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Hafiz Inuwa said the two suspected kidnappers who abducted the MD were among 25 other criminals that were arrested and will be charge to court soon.
