Easter: IGP orders massive deployment of policemen

As part of measures to ensure a peaceful and incident- free Easter celebration, the acting Inspector General of Police,Mohammed Adamu has ordered the massive deployment of intelligence, human and operational assets of the force across the country.

Adamu on Thursday ordered the commissioners of police and assistant inspectors general of police in charge of the zones to ensure that personnel intensify routine patrols and protection of vulnerable points within their jurisdictions.

He said that major highways, places of worship, residential areas, recreation centres, motor parks, financial institutions, government/private infrastructures and all places of public resort should be effectively policed.

They were also directed to ensure that their officers and men conduct themselves in most professional manner in line with extant laws and standard best practices before, during and after the festivities. 

Meanwhile, the inspector generalhas tasked Christians nationwide to emulate and adopt the selfless lifestyle of Christ as they join other Christians around the globe to celebrate the remembrance of the victorious death and resurrection of Jesus Christ as price for the redemption of mankind. 

The police chief sued for peaceful co-existence among Nigerians, irrespective of their religious, political and socio-cultural leanings in consonance with the principles and teachings of Christ. 

While wishing Nigerians a happy, fruitful and hitch-free Easter celebration, he enjoined Nigerians to be security conscious and continue to provide the police with useful information that will assist it to effectively track down criminal elements in the society.
